Here in Munoz Science Community (Nueva Ecija, Philippines), the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) is one of the science agencies that I love to attend anniversary celebrations. Aside from it being my neighbor, PCC staff have somewhat mastered the art of organizing big gatherings such as this.
In its 17th anniversary, I had once again the privilege of participating in their weeklong celebration, particularly during the Program proper on Friday, March 26, 2010. As in previous years, celebration started with a Thanksgiving Mass and a Motorcade on Monday; Technical seminar on Tuesday; AI (Artificial Insemination) Forum on Wednesday; Farmers' Field Day and Advisory Board Meeting on Thursday; Anniversary Program and Employees' Night on Friday, and finally, a Fun Day for PCC Family on Saturday (March 27).
On the Anniversary Program proper, where the new DA secretary Atty. Bernie Fondevilla was supposed to be the guest of honor (but represented by U/Sec Doy Salacup), the DA chief, in his message as read by U/Sec Salacup expressed joy and appreciation for the commendable outputs and outcomes of the Center. U/Sec Salacup, in his own message, cited PCC as the model for under agencies under DA to emulate, which operations cover the entire gamut and complete cycle or chain in Carabao industry from production through commercialization business of the commodity being covered. He likewise commended the manpower of PCC led by Executive Director Dr. Libertado Cruz.
