112 Epsies Join GE/GLE Summit 2009

21 June 2009, PhilSCAT, CLSU, Nueva Ecija PHILIPPINES. The Gamma Epsilon International, (the SEC-submitted/applied official name for the Gamma Epsilon Fraternity and the Gamma Lambda Epsilon Sorority) succesfully completed its Luzon Summit held at Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT) in the Science City of Munoz (Nueva Ecija). Fifteen (15) chapters Luzon-wide (including those from Mindanao State University-Marawi and Dalican campuses) were represented in this forum.

The main activities accomplished during this summit include the presentation of the state of GE/GLE in Luzon, as well as the accomplishments and directions of the GE National leadership as currently headed by its National President Bro. Pidol "Boy" Bugtong (Beta Chapter). Issues and concerns surrounding the organizations were likewise clarified and discussed in this summit.

To foster stronger bond among members was also the main purpose of the Summit. This was accomplished through team-building exercises (to include drawing contest which subject was the interpretation of the summit theme, Building-up one another the Epsilonian way) ; games and recreation activities, and the "candle-lit" Bonding Night (since it started with the brownout) . As one of the GE's so-entrenched culture, such bonding night was flooded with wines and "Red Horse" beer, provided by some alumni and residents alike led by the so-called mucho-dinero "Big 3". Bonding session ended up to past midnight, but some brethren continue it till the wee hours of the morning in the nice PhilSCAT living quarters.

Adding life and merriment to the summit was the abled emceeing of the "Gay-mma" Epsilon brods (or sisters?, they are gender-free afterall, lol); many thanks to Brods Ramjie and Chris, who made this gathering more lively. (GE seems no homophobic anymore).

In general, such gathering was really another GE forum worth-keeping and remembering, as everyone parted their ways after lunch of Sunday with "beso-beso" (hugs and kisses), a becoming popular GE way of greetings, other than the traditional GE handshake or handclasp.

Luzon summit 2009 is the first of a series of GE summits this year; the second shall be in Calbayog City (Leyte) on Oct. 23 - 25, and Dakak Resort, Zamboanga peninsula on Dec. 5 - 7, for the Visayas and Mindanao summits, respectively.

The Gamma Epsilon Fraternity and the Gamma Lambda Epsilon Sorority belong to Greek-lettered fraternal organizations based in selected colleges and universities. It was founded at the University of Sto. Tomas, Espana, Manila on August 25, 1963. Today, there are three known living founders of this fraternity – Bro. Syd Vasquez (Abra), Bro. Albert Martinez (Candon City) and Bro. Amor Gaborno (Canada). The Gamma Epsilon is more popularly known in the fraternity/sorority circle for the following : “Group of Young Executives” as English equivalent name; “Two-headed eagle” as its icon; “Two heads are better than one” as its slogan; “Pax et bonum” as its greeting expression, and has adopted The Beatle’s “All My Loving” as its theme song.
