December 9, 2009 - It's a non-working holiday in Munoz Science City today! City folks start a month-long celebration commemorating 3 important events - Munoz Foundation Day, City Charter anniversary, and the feast of Catholic Patron St. Sebastian. As usual, the month-long celebration features cultural, educational, economic, and religious activities, among many others, jointly organized by various organizations in this science community.

Munoz, an agricultural area in northern part of Nueva Ecija, is the seat of the world-famous agricultural university, the Central Luzon State University (CLSU), as well as of national research and scientific organizations like the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), the Philippine Carabao Center (PCC), the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE), the Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT), the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), outreach office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the Fruit and Vegetable Seed Center and other non-government (development)organizations.

Munoz' current chief executive officer is Mayor Nestor Alvarez, a former professor of CLSU. (30)
