"May Asim Pa Kami" Batch '65 Joins MES Grand Alumni Homecoming

3 April 2010, Masaguisi Elementary School (MES), Bongabong Or. Mindoro - Who says only Madame Auring has may asim pa ? Batch 1965 (color coded white T-shirt) of MES, which dubbed themselves as May Asim Pa Kami happily joined a day-long Grand Alumni Homecoming of MES, the first ever since its establishment in the 1940's right after the infamous Japanese Occupation.

This Batch's participation was led by Ms. Belen Ferias, and some of the classmates. This blogger, who belongs to Batch 1967, was adopted by May Asim Pa batch, being the lone representative of Batch 1967. But upon re-checking the roll, it was found out that some members of Batch 1967 joined the 1968 contingent like Lorna Festin, Leonita Mallen and Leoncia Solano, whom I can vividly recall as really a batchmate (March 1976 graduates).

This grand reunion was organized primarily by Mrs. Nora Umali-Hernandez, past Grade VI adviser, and upon the prodding of Mrs. Pacita Llena, a much early adviser including our batch. Mrs. Llena is now based in Montreal, Canada, but periodically visit her roots in Mindoro.

The homecoming was started through a parade around the main roads of Masaguisi, and followed by an opening program where alumni-leaders gave their respective Homecoming speeches like Dr. Violeta Navarro-Arciaga, Mrs. Marlyn Umali-Galicia, current principal Mr. Manalo, and others. Madame Nora served as the emcee of the entire program.

The grand homecoming was capped by election of officers, games and social night.
Working from my memory, my batchmates in 1967 were as follows - Nonoy Fajilan, Pong Llena, Raquel Bariata, Olive Fernandez, Helen Magararu, Liling Magararu, Leonita Mallen, Leoncia Solano, Mila Isler, Berlita Rioja, Lydia Zoleta, Emy Fabiala, Anicia Bulaclac, Vic Gadon, Roosevelt Araman, Victorio Tenorio, Juanito Tenorio, Venancia Macalalad, Dickwelenton (forgot his surname), Ric Lamando, Aquino Lamando, Angeles Fernandez, Delio Hernandez, Maria Hernandez, Arnaldo Manlolo, Paterno Faigao, Evangeline Soledad, Jerolyn Guevarra, Rizal Grimarin, Alicia fernandez (SLN), Cezar Claud, Marilou Gajela, Nora Fajarillo, Johnny Fajarillo, Lorna Festin, Cezar Fernandez, Mila Botardo, Emeterio Gadon, Feliciana Mendoza, Francisco Divinagracia (aka Ingot), and may be some more. 1. Some classmates in my list may have graduated later as it was common then to stop schooling in favor of working either in the farm or somewhere else. - Josue
