Spending My 55th Birthday @ Clark Field
July 4 used to be the Philippine Independence Day based on US formally liberating the country from Japanese occupation on July 4, 1946. In fact, a lady birthday-mate back in Mindoro was Christened "Independencia" having been born on this day. But the date was changed as a result of a more accurate review of Philippine history, thereby making June 12 as the real Independence Day based on Philippine revolution's liberating the country from Spanish colonizers on June 12, 1898. Just a brief glance of our country's history.
I used to celebrate my birthday with simple merienda fellowship with my officemates, as I also did this time with colleagues at PhilSCAT; as the day before July 4 is still a working day, and Saturday is a non-working day in the Philippines.
To spend the day, my son (Josh Ian) together with his wife Princess and son (my grandson) Jami treated me to SM Mall in Clark Field where July 4 is perennially observed as the place used to be an American military base. This time, only remnants of Americans can be found in Clark, those who opted to retire here and some children (left behind?) of then US servicemen with Filipinas.
Posted here are some pictures taken during my 55th birthday at SM Mall at Clark Field, the seat of then Filipino-American friendship being once a US military base. Here's thanking our good Lord for giving me another year to enjoy life with God-provided friends, brethren, colleagues and family. (Josh blogs)
