PhilSCAT Honors 3 Outgoing Technology Promoters

Three PhilSCAT technology and product promoters were honored today, October 5, 2009, by PhilSCAT family as they bid the Center farewell for various reasons such as moving to the "greener pasture" and one going back to the "barracks". The 3 are Dr. Josue S. Falla, whose deployment to the Center ended September 30 and thus, return to his mother unit the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE). Others are Ms. Ligaya Barroga, PhilSCAT extension coordinator, who moved to the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) also as Extension coordinator, and Mrs. Rowena G. Bumanlag, PhilSCAT writer/editor and info-officer, who moved to the Philippine Carabao Center as info-communication officer too. These 3 techno-promo staff served the Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT) for the entire Phase 1 from 2003 to 2009.
PhilSCAT officers led by Director Romeo Gavino commended the 3 for their job well done during their service period. As they were already given a plaque of appreciation during the ceremonial completion ceremonies last year along with the Chinese expats, PhilSCAT family acknowledged instead their services with a token (gift) really worth-appreciating.
Under the direct leadership of Director Romeo B. Gavino of the Central Luzon State University, the Philippine-Sino Center for Agricultural Technology (PhilSCAT) is a special R and D agency under the Department of Agriculture. It implements the collaborative program in agriculture and related fields between the Philippines and the People’s Republic of China, with Central Luzon State University (CLSU) as the lead implementor and the Bureau of Postharvest Research and Extension (BPRE), Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) and Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) as partners. PhilSCAT’s current technology scope under Phase I (2003-2008) is Hybrid Rice and Agri-mechanization. (30)
